December 2016 Met Real Estate Update

Happy New Year! The month of December was an strong month for our community’s Real Estate values. It appears that the rise in interest rates have caused many buyers to hop off the fence and move towards purchasing a property. Many of the sales this month were in the upper end of our 2016 price range. The next important date for event for us is to see how the market reacts after the presidential inauguration. The current low inventory in the Met makes the market still slightly a seller’s market. As of today, there’s only 1 active listing at the Met. I am looking forward to see what some of the units currently in escrow sell for next month to see what effect the rise in interest rates has done to our values.  Properties are still moving very quickly in the Met with my listings having a lot of buyer activity. Interest rates, while on the rise, are still near historic lows so hopefully buyer activity stays strong. There is great opportunity for those looking to buy or sell. I know of many buyers looking and the low inventory is creating high demand. The information below compares the Real Estate Activity of December 2016 to November 2016 as reported by the Southland Regional Association of Realtors MLS.
